congratulations, Utah! full Medicaid expansion begins January 1st

Utah is a full Medicaid expansion state as of January 1, 2020!

The new eligibility levels are approximately $1,400 a month for an individual or $3,000 for a family of four

The federal government approved part of Utah’s “Fallback Plan” (phase 3 of the complicated SB96 repeal of Proposition 3’s full expansion) on December 23rd. This includes expansion up to 138% of the federal poverty level, as well as work reporting requirements, and mandatory enrollment in qualified employer-sponsored coverage.

Medicaid Coverage for Coronavirus Testing

“Uninsured individuals are eligible for the new “COVID-19 Uninsured Testing Coverage” without regard to income or assets. To qualify, an individual must be uninsured, and meet citizenship and Utah residency requirements.”
